When creating your dream landscape, we need to look at the entire picture in order to get the most from your property. A master plan for the whole site is the basic starting point. This gives the homeowner an idea of where they are, what they want to change, and what they want to add to fully utilize their property.
Even homes with established landscapes can benefit from an overall Site Plan. Good planning at the outset minimizes costly mistakes and wasting time correcting them. These plans can be implemented immediately or over several years depending on the client's needs and budget. An overall site plan allows each new addition, whether it's plantings or hardscaping, to complement and extend what has been done prior.
We start with an initial meeting. Together, we'll walk the property to discuss what exists and what we foresee. This includes information on:
What needs of the customer are not being met?
A proposal of ideas is then submitted to you. Upon acceptance, the fun begins. We will meet again to discuss particular interests such as style, likes and dislikes, color, and lifestyle.
We will perform a soil condition analysis to check :
- the pH (acidic vs. alkaline)
And examine existing plant material to determine
- what its current condition is
- is it appropriate for the site
- the maintenance requirements
From this consultation, we will formulate a plan of new ideas designed to better utilize the property and meet the client's requirements. A rough design will be created to include ideas of suitable materials for the site conditions in order to
- extend one's living space
- create focal points of interest
This rough design will include:
- hardscaping (i.e. terrace, walls)
And finally, the final presentation will be submitted. At that time, Garden Path Landscape Design will either begin your project, or if the job is too extensive, we will act as your project manager to ensure that the dream we've created on paper becomes a reality in your yard.
